Beaune Day 2

After another night of constant rain we slept in a little and then drove the Grand Cru wine trail of Burgundy. This just took a little over an hour or so since we did not stop for any degustions (wine tastings). The mustard fields all over France were in full bloom and gorgeous.

Once back in Beaune we found a parking spot right outside of the old town walls and walked in to find some lunch.

Grape vines grow everywhere including out of this houses front door.

Lunch was at Au Grand Cafe in the center (Place Carnot) and was very delicious. I had the best beef of the trip with an order of Beef Buorguignon it was so tender and Mark had a pesto pasta. These both paired well with our glasses of a local Beaune wine.

Once done with lunch and we were walking around window shopping looking for places to do some wine tastings it started to rain. The area had many awnings and it was very romantic walking between the awnings in the rain and window shop. We did a few wine tastings and found an awesome Nuits-Saint-Georges burgundy that we fell in love with and ordered a case of. 5 weeks later and we are still anxiously awaiting for it to arrive. We were ready for a little break after all of the wine so walked back to the RV and hung out for a couple of hours while we waited for the restaurants to open at 7:00pm. It is great to have the convenience of an RV nearby.

We found a wonderful restaurant called Le Grand Blue and had one of our best meals in France. They have a cave dining room and a very modern blue lit dining room. We were sat in the blue room and we enjoyed it's ambiance. Our server was a very sweet young girl who tried very hard to give us great service. I don't have my notes with me as to what we ate but look for a write up in the future on our 2 fat foodies blog. The owner was very friendly and visited with us for quite some time. We highly recommend this restaurant. While walking back to the RV we heard a commotion in an apartment above us and looked up just in time to see a pillow flying out a window. Not sure what that was all about but we had a good laugh over it. We were off back to the campground for the night with a great day and great food under our belt.
